Using Monkey Tool

This first post is dedicated to a wonderfull tool => Monkey ! If you had never heard of this tool, your life is turning better now. Monkey is a simple tool which allow to generate pseudo-random gestures , on a device or on an emulator . Shortly, you can in a few seconds simulate a user using your application, but a pretty stupid one (just as all users ?) because all his actions will be generated randomly. These actions won’t make any sense, but the aim here is to detect bugs in your app, and this can be very useful. Note 1 : This is absolutely not a substitute to other tests you should do (like unit tests…). Do what I say, not what I do  Note 2 : For this tut, I suppose you have one emulator or a device connected in debug mode (with ADB drivers installed). I won’t detail this part. Here we go, launching cmd, and browsing to [android-sdk-path]**/platform-tools. The basic command to use monkey is the following: adb shell monkey <options> For exampl...

Jay-Z, Buffett and Forbes on Success and Giving Back

Image
The first Forbes 400 Summit was surreal, amazing and, in the end, moving. We gassed up a Gulfstream 450 one warm September morning and flew one of the most successful recording artists of all time, Jay-Z, to meet the most successful investor of all time, Warren Buffett, on the latter’s home turf of Omaha, Neb. The intent was to capture their very different perspectives on success and wealth and to talk about the social obligations that come with each. They ended up finding out they had more in common than anyone would have expected between a 40-year-old rapper from the Brooklyn projects and the 80-year-old sage of compounded returns. The main event was an hourlong, videotaped talk at Buffett’s office building. (What you read here comes from that session.) But first there was lunch. The early crowd at the Hollywood Diner (“Where the customer is the star”) was unmoved by Buffett, a fixture with his usual order of chicken-fried steak with extra mashed potatoes. When Ja...

What are the lessons people most often learn too late in life?

That health is a priority. If you won’t take care of it now, it will make you take care of it later on. That we cannot control other people’s actions, words and behavior. We can only control ours. So tying your happiness to other people’s actions would only bring chaos in you. That it is important to say No. Because people are selfish and use you all the time when in need. They might not be with you when you’ll need them. Help whosoever you can easily but don't sacrifice yourself for anyone and everyone out there. That expectations would hurt. Give that much which wouldn't make you expect from them. Not everyone is like you. If you are nice and kind to everyone that doesn't mean they will be too. That you are responsible for any action that you take. Taking and acting on anybody’s advise doesn't make that person responsible for the result of that action. So do not trust anyone blindly. Listen to everyone but think and decide on your own. That listen to your paren...

What are the things/values a person should chase in life?

Knowledge . No one can take that away from you. Excellence  in whatever you do. Success will come to you on its own. Beautiful heart who loves you.  Though you never will need to chase that heart but do not take it for granted is what I mean. Value it if you have one :) Fitness . Health is wealth, remember. Goals and dreams.  They provide essence to our lives. Peace . Chase sun rays, beach waves, silence of the night..anything that gives you peace. Learning . Never stop that. There is no one who has dearth of things to learn about. Moment you stop that, you stop growing. Simplicity . Lesser the baggage, more the time, more the energy, more the calmness, more the beauty in life. Freedom . Do righteous deeds. Let go of unnecessary chaos and enjoy the freedom. Your development . Yeah. Very important. Think about it when you do things, when you use your time, when you take up a job, thats how you grow. Experiences . Most of the memories that we are going to cheris...

I feel that I'm wasting my life. How can I change this situation?

Do something meaningful with your life. For yourself, for your parents, for your friends or people in general. Feel that feel of making a difference to anyone’s life. Have some direction of where you are moving towards. Have some aim. Be it a short term. But feel that enthusiasm in the morning to wake up for the fact that you can take more steps towards achieving that aim. Be nice to people. Talk to people. Help whenever you can anyone. But have a small circle of people who matter to you most like you, parents and few close friends. Spend time with them, be there for them, and cherish those moments. Don’t give priority to others at the cost of people who actually are important. Do not follow the crowd. Don’t think what everyone is doing is what you need to do. Don’t be in a rush all the time. Make your own life path by doing things you feel like doing. By doing things which you feel are right, By doing things which you feel are good for you. Do not compare with others. Just focus ...

Psychology of Everyday Life: What makes a man handsome to you apart from physical characteristics?

One who when speaks, everyone wants to listen. One who when speaks, has a tone that is confident, easy and fun. One who when speaks, is respectful and polite. One who when speaks, maturity and intelligence comes across even without trying. One who when speaks, people go in awe of him. He never judges you when gets to know that you don’t know anything. Would rather smile and explain to you till the time you ask for it. And just imagine even being a girl, when you don’t want to speak rather want to just listen to him. All in all, a persona that commands respect with his behavior and talks, is something that makes a man look handsome to me. :)

What are the three main causes of failure in life?

Self doubt  - Unless and until you believe in yourself, you would either not try at all or do things half heartedly. You will never get to know your true potential with this trait. So get over it, try, explore. It’s okay not to get success first time. At least you won’t regret later on that you should have tried, you were capable. They say most of the regrets we have later on is on things we didn’t do, not the ones we did. So, it is better to do things which you want to rather than succumbing to self doubt. Moving without a plan or a purpose  - Be it anything one has to have at least some idea on what one calls success as. Is it money, fame, first division in exams, raising children who come out to be good human beings in future or anything else. Your goal and priority could be anything. What is important is to have an idea about that. If you just keep doing stuff you do like a routine or unenthusiastically, it will take you no where in terms of contentness. What I am sa...
